Trinity
The distinctively Christian doctrine of God, usually summarized in precepts such as “three persons, one God”.
The term trinity is from the Latin trinitas, which means “three” and has been used to describe the tri-unity (or three-ness) of God, as described in Scripture: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The term is not found in the Bible and is a later theological expression. It is therefore a helpful term to describe the unity and plurality of the Persons of God.
