Zohar

The Zohar is a mystical text and the most important literature work in the Kabbalah (the Jewish mystical tradition). It mainly contains the teachings of Simeon bar Yochai, a famous rabbi of the second century A.D. and was presented to the world by a Spanish Kabbalist Rabbi Moses de Leon.

The term Zohar is Aramaic for “splendour” or “radiance”, hence the book is usually called The Book of Splendor.

A central theme in the Zohar is a call to awareness and spiritual development. It teaches that each person has three souls, and its emphasises are placed on mediating upon the image of the Tree of Life, the spiritual aspect of sexuality, the study of dreams, the domain of sound…
